Confirmed! MP Gideon Mwiti Raped Former Journalist In His Office
Imenti central Member of Parliament Gideon Mwiti has been arrested in connection to the rape allegations that were leveled against him by a former journalist. This is after final results of tests that were being done to confirm the allegations turned out positive.
Mwiti was asked by investigators handling the case to report to Parklands police station to be briefed further on the way forward concerning his case and it is at this point when he was informed that he was under arrest. He is expected to be arraigned in court tomorrow morning.
His doctor was charged
Mwiti’s doctor who is also believed to have forcefully carried out a HIV test on the rape victim was arraigned in court on Tuesday and charged for operating a clinic without a license. The doctor was charged together with his accountant at Kibera law courts but they denied the allegations. Their clinic was shut down. The doctor will further be charged for abetting and aiding the MP to commit a crime.
Strengthen the case
In a bid to secure a strong case against Hon. Gideon Mwiti, the Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has ordered police to visit the victim’s home for further grilling in order to strengthen the case against the MP. This is after her initial statements failed to be consistent and thus the gaps have to be sealed before arraigning the accused in court.
Others whose statements have been recorded to help in prosecuting the case are the taxi driver who helped the woman to her home shortly after that March 21st attack and the security guard at Pizza gardens in Westlands.
Seeking an out of court settlement
The husband to the victim who has been lauded for standing firm in support of his wife is further claiming that the MP Gideon Mwiti is seeking an out of court settlement and that he has been sending emissaries to convince him to agree to an out of court settlement.
Members of the general public are very eager to see the outcome of this case bearing in mind that there have been many such like cases emanating from “waheshimiwas”.
