Revealed! This Is Why Governor Wycliffe Oparanya Lost The Council Of Governors Chairmanship To Governor Peter Munya Of Meru
Barely a week after Peter Munya was elected the chairman of the council of governors to replace Bomet governor Isaac Ruto, details has since emerged on what happened behind curtains that saw Oparanya denied the position. According to Oparanya, Jubilee governors flatly told him that he is too close to Raila Odinga and thus if elected, Raila will be direcly in control of the governors affairs.
“They told me I am too close to Raila and he will be inside the council if they elected me. Our friends, especially from Central Kenya, fear Raila, and I don’t know why,” Operanya told mourners on Saturday during the burial of the brother to his Deputy.
Introduced party politics
It must also be remembered that Oparanya himself might have had a role in his failure to clinch the chairmanship especially when he tried to introduce party politics into the council. This is after he was quoted saying that Jubilee have had their time leading the council and thus it was CORD’s turn to take over the chairmanship. This statement could not have gone well with Jubilee governors and thus their failure to support him for the position.
