SORRY! Safaricom Admits That Recent Online Competition Was Not Free and Fair
Recently, a blogger busted and exposed Safaricom (Read Safcom scams) in one of their online competitions where social media users were required to answer simple questions and win instant rewards like airtime and to some extend phones. The said blogger was bold enough to even engage Safaricom online thus drawing the attention of most Kenyans.
With nothing left on Safaricom’s side and for the purpose of their reputation and future competitions, the only way out was to apologize. Here is what Safaricom had to say concerning the recent #SafFunFriday
“Following a thorough audit of all the activities involved in the running and subsequent evaluation of the short list for the winners we have established that the social media activation was compromised by one or possibly several of tech-savvy individuals who deployed “internet bots” to increase their chances of winning in the competition,”
They further went ahead to say SORRY,
“We apologize unreservedly for any inconvenience that those competing fairly in the said online promotion may have suffered. We wish to assure all our followers on Twitter that we have taken the appropriate steps to ensure this does not happen again during any of our future promotions.”
Being the largest telecommunication company in the country, we can only hope that the other competitions they have been running such as LIPA NA M-PESA, BONYEZA USHINDE etc have been free and fair.
